Clifton C. Smith

Clifton C. “Cliff” Smith, fondly known as Cliff was born October 3, 1966 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Ella Mae Smith and Carl Junior Shutes. He was the youngest of six siblings. At an early age he accepted Christ and united with New Olive Branch Baptist Church. He later became a member of Longley Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock. Clifton was a 1985 graduate of El Dorado High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 9, 1985 and served for 3 1/2 years as an Infantryman. He received several awards including; Army Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, Army Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge w/Rifle and the Grenade Component Bars. He worked for Caterpillar for several years. Cliff was married to Shaun Yvette Smith for over 13 years until his transition. He enjoyed sports and was a Cowboys and Razorbacks fan. Cliff passed into the Lord’s embrace on. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, three aunts, on uncle and a brother, Carl “Rabbit” Shutes. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Shaun Smith; three children, Alesha N. Bailey, LaShaun and Ronald, Jr.; four grandchildren, Jayla, Ahrianna, Sa’Niya and Abrielle; two sisters, Charlotte Jeanette Moore, Lois Marie Pumphrey; one sister-cousin, Wanda Faye “Shella” (Joe) Jackson; three brothers, Steven Ford, Chester Shutes and Rev. James (Mary) Shutes; 28 nieces, 25 nephews; two uncles, Earnest (Francis) Shutes and Ray Beavers; one aunt, Faye “Aunt Ted” McHenry; two sisters-in-law, Sonya Narcisse and Joelene Brown; two brothers-in-law, Reginald Brown and Ricky Brown; his mother-in-law, Pearl Ross; a host of cousins, co-workers, friends and the Class of 1985. The family will receive friends Friday, June 9, 2017 from 6-7 pm at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at New Olive Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Dobson, eulogist. Interment will be at Lott Burt Cemetery in El Dorado, Arkansas with Military Honors.
