A Glimpse into Her Life Sandra was born into time on July 4, 1955 to the union of Tommy and Trudie Mae Thigpen in El Dorado, Arkansas. At an early age she was baptized at St. James Baptist Church under the Reverent J. H. Rowe and later moved to Morning Star #2 Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Felton Burgie. She was a member of the singing group The Thigpen Sisters, writing many of their songs and directing. She was a graduate of capital City Business College where she received an Associate degree in business. She easily befriended all of whom she met. She loved fishing, playing dominoes, card and interacting with her family. Sandra passed on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Catheline Thigpen-Foreman, Claudia Thigpen-Rodgers and Mary Alice Hayes; and one brother, Willie Lewis Meeks. Though she is no longer with us in body; her life and memory will be cherished by her husband, Clinton Turners; two daughters, Karen Cunningham (Stephen) and Nicole Nelson (Fred); sons, Andre Rucks (Latasha) and Christopher Campbell; fourteen grandchildren, T’Revah Cobb (Kendal), Robin Rucks, Dreon Lindsey, Brione Davis, LeAndre Ricks, JaKamryn Reynolds, Trek Rucks, Adrianna Rucks, Tyreke Mitchell, Amarion Sumler, Ryan Nelson, Lauren-Ashley Nelson, Ashtyn Campbell and Amya Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Cali and Cole. Her life and memory will also be cherished by four sisters; Ruby Thigpen-Reed, Joann Thigpen-Bowman, Jerline Thigpen-Cunningham (Robert), and Janice Thigpen-Meeks; two brothers, Tom Thigpen, and Tyrone Thigpen (Casey), as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Felton Burgie, eulogist. Interment will be at Community Cemetery in Junction City.
