A Glimpse into Her Life Lurie Mae Barnes was born into time on November 28, 1939 to the union of Oscar Lee Henry and Addie Lee Henry in El Dorado, Arkansas. Being born into a large family she learned the value of family and sticking together. She accepted Christ at a tender age and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 Urbana where she served as an Usher for several years and taught Sunday school. Lurie grew up to be a beautiful and charming young lady. Frankie Lee Barnes and their courtship led to marriage and seven children. She loved her husband and was a devoted mother. Her children were such an important part of her life and they brought her so much joy. She played an important role in encouraging them in reaching their goals and objectives. Lurie was an impeccable housekeeper and made many sacrifices to raise and nurture her family. While raising seven little ones cooking came natural, as well as, babysitting. She was a soul food “boiling pots” cooking type of woman. She enjoyed fishing and being with her family. She was a retired employee of Con Agra in El Dorado, Arkansas. She never met a stranger and her smile would light up any room. On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, she passed into the Lord’s embrace with her family at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. Though she is no longer with us in body; her irreplaceable presence will be deeply missed by: her husband, Frankie Lee Barnes; daughters, Diane Harris (Maurice) of El Dorado, AR, Jennifer Boddie (Darryl) of Bloomington, Illinois, Laquetta Barnes of El Dorado, AR, Janice Carter (Greg) of Magnolia, AR and Crystal Hall (Eddie) of Bossier City, LA; sons, Dwight Barnes of North Little Rock, AR, Frank Barnes (Tenesha) of Little Rock, AR; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iola Bradley of Ashtabula, OH and Ceola Chambliss (Walter) of Eldorado, AR. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 Urbana with Rev. Billy Artis, eulogist. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sims Mortuary. Sign guestbook online at www.simsmortuary.com and like us on Facebook.
