"O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8 Nancy Ruth Whitmore was born on April 23, 1953 to the late Carlton Lee Spencer and Jinnie Wonzo in Montrose, Arkansas. She was one of nine siblings two whom preceded her in death, Carlton Spencer and Willie Spencer. Nancy accepted Christ at a very early age. She truly loved the Lord and her Church family. She showed herself to be a devoted church member as she served with a heart of gladness. As a true worshipper, she was well known to be in the spirit and shouting her praises unto the Lord with her mighty phrase of "Glory". Those who knew Nancy knew that she truly loved her three children, James Spencer, Felisa Jackson and Melvin Whitmore II. Nancy loved her family and throughout her life assisted in raising and nuturing several family members including the upbringing of her grandson in the early years of his life. He truly held her heart. Nancy knew the importance of family, whether blood relatives or her church family, and selflessly gave of herself, her time and her resources to ensure their livelihood. She was united in holy matrimony to Melvin Whitmore on June 25, 1974 who preceded her in death. In the late 70's they relocated from Little Rock to El Dorado. She leaves to cherish her loving memories her three children; two grandchildren, De'Laila Nancy Whitmore and Malik Whitmore; her mother Jinnie Jones; five sisters, Mary Phillips, Minnie Traylor, Irene Berry, JoAnn Spencer-Hampton and Jearldean Sadoh and one brother Wayne Jones. Also sharing her memories are many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a large church family which will miss her dearly. Funeral services will be private .
