"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith...II Timothy Edward L. Blackmon was born on May 8, 1927 in Spearsville, Louisiana the son of Arthur and Irene Blackmon. He was a member of First St. James Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas where he served as a deacon. He was a long term employee of United States Civil Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucy Blackmon, four brothers, Robert Blackmon, Lawrence James Blackmon, Arthur Blackmon, Jr. and Claudie Bray; three sisters, Sweetie Mae Blackmon, Jimmy Cobb and Katharine Glover. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, six sons, Brian Blackmon(Carolyn), Bruce Blackmon(Jackie), Dewitt Tatum(Shirley)all of El Dorado, Arkansas, Charles Blackmon(Janice) of Richmond, Virginia, Immanuel Blackmon(Laconstance) of Detroit, Michigan and Geroge Edward Blackmon of Louisiana; five sisters, Mary Ann Moses of Junction City, Arkansas, Robbie Tean Blackmon of El Dorado, Arkansas, Robbie Jean Ford of Farmerville, Louisiana, Ophelia Banks(Willie) of Lillie, Louisiana and Annette Montgomery of Ruston, Louisiana; nineteen grandchildren. A Homegoing Celebration was held on Monday,April 20, 2009 at First St. James Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas with the Rev. Roy Aaron officiating. Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Visitation at the church.
