June 5, 1915 — April 8, 2009

'The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.." Psalms 23 Mother Artelia Jeanette Scott was born in Wrightville, Arkansas the daughter of Elijah and Lucy Lockett Thompson. On April 8, 2009, God came and received unto himself one of his beautiful servants. She departed this life in Kansas City, Missouri. Mother Scott was a faithful member of the Triumph The Church and Kingdom of God in Christ for over 75 years until her health failed. Upon moving to El Dorado, she met Bishop Sam Scott; they fell in love and married on September 20, 1932. They spent 70 years together until he passed in 2002. She was the proud mother of 12 children. After all her children were grown, she went back to school and earned her GED. She was called Big Mommy by all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granchildren. Mother was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Sam Scott, three children, Mable Dean Dunn, Sam Scott, Jr. and John(J.E.)Scott and four grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, four sons, Otis Raymond Scott(Clara) of El Dorado, Arkansas, Rev. Tyree Howard Scot(Beverly) of St. Louis, Missouri, Rev. Dwight Scott(Geneve) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Rev. Lloyd Wayne Scott(Hope) of Port Arthur, Texas; five daughters, Annie Louise Levert of Waterford, Michigan, Sammie Jean Pierce(James) of Maple Heights, Ohio, Jeanette Scott of El Dorado, Arkansas, Gwendolyn Faye Washington(David) of Houston, Texas and Cynthia Marie Scott of New York, New York; thirty-seven grandchildren, fifty-four great grandchildren and twenty-three great-great grandchildren. A Homegoing Celebration for Mother Artelia Scott will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 1018 Wilson, El Dorado, Arkansas with her son Rev. Dwight Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, El Dorado, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Firday, April 17, 2009 from 9am-5pm. Viewing will be from 10-11am at the Church on Saturday, April 18. There will be no viewing after the service.
