N.L. Jackson Charles

"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want..."Psalms 23 Mrs. N. L. Charles was born on April 11, 1927 in Lillie, Louisiana to loving parents Jack and Lula Kennedy Jackson. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2008. At an early age, N.L. Confessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Truly she was an extraordiary woman who demonstrated great compassion and unselfish service to the least, the last and the lost. Her wisdom inspired those who were seeking direction or just needed a listening ear. She showed generosity to all who crossed her path. She was a woman of many talents and gifts, a woman whose beauty and elegance illuminated any room. Her devotion as a loving and supportive mother will truly be missed however, her inspirational legacy will live in our hearts forever. N. L. was preceded in death by her father and mother, five brothers, Brady, John Alma, Alvin, Joe Willie and A. D. Jackson; three sisters, Vida B. Walsh, Velma Washington and Doris Caver. Left to cherish her loving memories are her two daughters, Lula Massey Hamilton of Conroe, Texas and Alice Lougin of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Eric Lougin, LaShawn Hamilton, Yvette Hamilton and Michelle Hamilton; one great grandchild, Victoria Hamilton. Also sharing in this immense loss are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Charles will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas with Bishop George Calloway. Interment will follow in the Hicks Cemetery, Smackover under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday, December 5, 2008 from 9:00am-5:00pm and Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 8:30-9:30am. The family will be at 330 South Park, El Dorado, Arkansas.
