Ellis Parker

August 25, 1922 — October 4, 2008

'The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want..." Ellis "Tom" Parker was born in the summer of 1923 on August 25 in Urbana, Arkansas, the son of King David and Alabama Hadley Parker He departed this life in John R. William Hsopice Home on October 4, 2008. Ellis united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful until his health failed. He attended Number One school of Urbana, Arkansas. He met and married the love of his life Mayola Gaines. To this union seven children were born. He worked for Georgia Pacific in the Plywood Division for 33 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 181. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mayola Gaines Parker, two sons, King David Parker and Ellis Parker, Jr.; two daughters, Deloise Mixen and Clistine Evans; seven brothers, Basil, Leo, King Fisher, Hosea, Herman, H.C. and ; seven, sisters, Kathleen, Vaughn, Leola, Zeola, Christine and Earnestine and Sylvester. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his son, Curtis Parker and his wife Deidre of Urbana, Arkansas; two daughters, Mary Ann Owens and her husband, Arthur of Dallas, Texas and Sherry Levingston and her husband Herman of Urbana, Arkansas; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. A homegoing celebration for Mr. Parker will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Urbana, Arkansas with the Rev. Billy E. Artis officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Urbana under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visistation at the funeral home will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday, October 11, from 8:30-9:30am. A family hour will be held in the Sims Chapel from 6:00-7:00pm. The family will be at the home of Herman and Sherry Levingston in Urbana, Arkansas.
