Sterling J. Williams

Sterling J. Williams, 79, died Wednesday Aug 19,2014 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. He was born on Aug. 27, 1934, in Crossett, to James “Jim” and Julia Gayfield Williams. He attended Crossett School in Crossett. He was employed with Jet Asphalt and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in El Dorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis Garland Williams. He is survived by three sons, Sterling J. Williams Jr. of El Dorado, Leroy Williams of Oakland, Calif., and Gary Ford of Berkeley, Calif.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. today and from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sims Mortuary. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Siloam Cemetery in Crossett with the Rev. Barry Dobson officiating. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery.
