Herman Roberson

February 18, 1917 — January 12, 2014

Herman Roberson, the third child of John Roberson and Rebecca Ross Roberson was born February 18, 1917 in Dumas City, Arkansas. At an early age, he united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lisbon, Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend John Abbey. He served faithfully as a Deacon until his health failed. He was a long-time butcher at Dumas Packing Company and a cook at Massey's Drive in located in El Dorado. On January 12, he left this life at Hillsboro Nursing Home to be eternally united with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his wife, Mattie Lee Williams Roberson; two sisters, Josephine Thompson and Mable Lee Carter; one brother, Walker Roberson; one son, Hugh Royal Brown; one daughter Eursleen Culp; two grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends who will miss him. A Homegoing Celebration for Brother Herman Roberson will be held on January 21, 2014 at St. James Baptist Church, MLK Bouldevard, El Dorado, Arkansas at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. George Calloway and Rev. Felton Burgie officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion-Lisbon Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday, Janaury 18, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Herman Roberson, please visit our flower store.
