Rev.James William McGraw

The Rev. James William McCraw was born on April 29, 1929, in Norphlet, and died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at his residence in Waco, Texas. He was the son of Willie Earnest and Lillie Gay Thompson McCraw. He was a graduate of Smith High School of Norphlet. He was an ordained minister and pastored at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willisville, Kendrick Chapel of Waldo, St. John Baptist Church of Bluff City, New Hope Baptist Church of Falcon, and Spring Street Baptist Church of Muskegon, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Robertine Burgie McCraw; a son, James Robert McCraw; a daughter, Annie Mae McCraw; and brothers, Benny McCraw, John Lewis McCraw and Earnest McCraw. Survivors include four sons, James Curtis Davis of Virginia Beach, Va., Richard Snowden and Carlton McCraw, both of El Dorado, and Winfred McCraw of Waco; one daughter, Donna McCraw of Waco; two brothers, R.T. Goodwin of Smackover and Theodis McCraw of Cochran, Calif.; three sisters, Minnie Mae Davis, and Sarah Dismuke, both of Dallas, and Elouise Johnson of Smackover. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smackover School Auditorium with the Rev. Curtis Tatum officiating. Interment will be in Primm Cemetery, Smackover, under the direction of the Sims Mortuary staff.
