John 14:1 Eurmon "E J" (Big Mardis) Mardis was born on November 15, 1923 in Haynesville, Louisiana the son of Herman and Adla Phillips Mardis. He joined Union Ark Baptist Church at an early age. He was a wounded warrior of the United States Army World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, two sisters, a nephew and a niece. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, four daughters, Gloria Mardis Johnson, Mary V. Wade, Vada Traylor and Barbara Ellison; eleven nieces, nine nephews and a host of great/grand nieces and nephews and other family and friends. A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Mardis will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Ark Baptist Church, Dodge City, Arkansas with Rev. Anthony Traylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Ark Cemetery under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday, April 1, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
