Dorothy J. Thigpen Cargile

Sis. Dorothy J. Thigpen Cargile was born on May 17, 1937, in El Dorado, AR, the daughter of Rance and Georgia Thurman Thigpen. Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and united with Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God and Christ in El Dorado, Arkansas. She later moved to Los Angeles, California and united with First Corinthian Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Alfonso Patterson. She then returned home and united once again with Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God and Christ and served faithful until her health failed. Dorothy was a wife and loving mother who worked hard all her life to help her husband support the family. She worked as a nurse's aid in various nursing homes in Arkansas as well as in Los Angeles, California. She met, loved and married Jimmy Lee Cargile and to this union twelve children were born. She is preceded in death by her parents, Three brothers, Tommy, Walter and Oscar Thigpen, Five sisters, Billy G. Thigpen, Nellie Carter, Annie Lee Thigpen, Annie Pearl Thompson and Minnie Cargile. She leaves to cherish her memories, her Huband, Jimmy Lee Cargile; Five sons, Melvin Joe Cargile and Robert Earl Cargile both of Beaumont,TX, Jimmy Dewayne and Damion D. Gill both of Los Angeles, CA; Five daughters, Rev. Pat Cargile Johnson of El Dorado, AR, Evangelist Dorothy Cargile, Nellie Faye Cargile Cooper, Shirley Ann Cargile and Marilyn Louise Cargile Payne all of Los Angeles, CA; twenty-one grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Homegoing services for Sis. Cargile will be Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ, 820 Union Avenue, El Dorado, AR with the Rev. Alonso Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery, Junction City, AR under the direction of Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the Funeral Home will be Tuesday, September 13, 2005 10:00am-5:30pm and Wednesday, September 14, 2005 9:30am-11:30am.
