October 8, 1919 — August 8, 2005

Sis. Cora Lee Mitchell was born on October 8, 1919 in Three Creeks, Arkansas, the daughter of James Luther and Minnie Lee Williams Dorton. She went to school in Union County and at an early age she professed Christ with St. James Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas. She met and married Joel Frank Mitchell Jr. "Jeff" and to this union one son was born. Later she moved to Oakland, CA. and became a member of the Church of Christ where she remained faithful until her health began to fail. She was active in the Golden Gate Senior Citizen for 25 years. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, one sister, Severtie James; one grandson and one great-grandson. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Nathaniel Kidd(Velma) of Crossett, Arkansas and Jessie Mitchell Jr. of Oakland, California; her mother, Minnie Lee Montgomery; two brothers, Willie Dykes(Mauren) of Kansas City, Missouri and Fred Dorton of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Frances Cobb and Maeodis Modica of El Dorado, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren. A host of uncles, aunts, cousins, neices, nephews and friends. Homegoing services for Sis. Mitchell will be Friday, August 19, 2005 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Claiborne Cemetery in Summerfield, Louisiana under the direction of Sims Mortuary Staff.
