Lillie Pearl Richard Henry

December 12, 1924 — March 12, 2012

"The Lord is my Shepherd...I shall not want". Psalms 23 On a cold and dreary morning in 1924, George and Carrie Cleveland Richard welcomed their new baby daughter on the 12th day of December and named her Lillie Pearl. As God would have it; at the age of nine months, Carrie would be called to her eternal resting place leaving behind her precious baby Lillie. But, as we all know, God has special angels that watch over babies. As the angels saw fit to keep their comforting wings around this bundle of joy and guarded her with care, she gained the name of "Little Sister" from all her siblings and family members. At a very young age, she united with Evergreen Baptist Church and remained a member until she was called into eternity. As a member of Evergreen, she particiapted in the Choir, Missionary Society, Sunday School Department, Food Service Ministry, and many more areas of the church. She gave her hand in marriage to Will C. Carter and to the union one child was born, Mae Evelyn Carter. After the death of Will, she married Morris Henry and to this union they were blessed with three children, Wanda, Sandra and Ketha. She worked at Rosenwald School Cafeteria and later in the Junction City School System where she possessed a special love for the children. She subsequently retired in 1972. Lille was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Willie(Cap)Richards, Timothy Richards, and Jessie Richards;eight sisters, Anna Smith, Elma Claibrone, Georgia Godfrey, Pearl Moore, Essie Godfrey, Bessie Meeks, Victoria Franklin and Albirta Jackson. Lillie departed this life on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 7:20 p.m. with her children, grandchildren and husband at her bedside.
