"Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His saints". Psalms 116:15 Brother Luther Ray McDuffie was born on January 17, 1937 in Three Creeks, Arkansas. He was the first born son to Roy and Vashti McDuffie. As a young man, after his family moved to El Dorado, Arkansas, Luther Ray united with Mt. Willie Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas. Early in life, Luther Ray sought peace and solace in the call nature. His passion for being outside was unquenchable. He was known to be one of the best hunters and fishermen on this side of the Mississippi River. He was a man who loved life and was known to be dependable, honest and trustworthy. Luther Ray was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School. Shortly after high school, he entered the workforce and eventually sought employment with Prescolite where he retired after thirty-seven years of dedicated employment. On January 25, 2012,Luther transitioned to his eternal resting place where he united with his parents, two sisters and two brothers,Hosea and Arthur Joe McDuffie. His precious memories will be cherished by three sisters, Eddie Susie Davis and Roy Jean Barnes both of El Dorado, Arkansas and Lizzie Ann(Bobby) Hickman of Bryan, Texas; one brother Herman Berry McDuffie of Richmond, California;a sister in law, Shirley A. McDuffie of El Dorado, Arkansas a special friend,two aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives who will miss him dearly. A Homegoing Celebration for Luther will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas with Rev. Felton Burgie officiating. Interment will follow in the El Bethel Cemetery, Three Creeks, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 1:00 to 4:00p.m. and Friday, February 3, from 8:30 to 9:30a.m. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Luther Ray McDuffie, please visit our flower store.
