"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.." John 14:27 Luther Harris, Sr. was born on October 14, 1946, in El Dorado, Arkansas the son of Charles and Genova Darby Harris. He was a dedicated Construction Worker for Tom Loftin Construction until his illness. He was a faithful member of Sweet Home Missonary Baptist Church, Smackover, Arkansas where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. Luther was preceded in death by his parents, one son Christopher Harris; 2 brothers Charles Harris and Sammy Ray Darby. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife of 41 1/2 years, Sarah Harris of Smackover, Arkansas; four sons, Rev. Luther(Christina)Harris, Jr. and Rev. Lamont (Tia)Harris all of El Dorado, Arkansas, Kelvin Harris of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Luther Ray Harris of Colorado, Springs, CO; two daughters, Minister Amanda Williams of El Dorado, Arkansas and Angela Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada; three special grandchildren; Jonathan(Kisha)Modica of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Kierra & Keondra Harris of Smackover, Arkansas; five brothers, Alfred Harris, Noble Dale(Mary)Harris, Howard Lee Harris, Harvey Lee(Emma)Harris of Shreveport, Louisiana and Johnny Ray(Linda)Darby of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Louis Jean Morris, Margaret Ann Brown, Lorene Harris and Barbara Ann Darby all of Shreveport, Louisiana; twenty-three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 21,2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smackover School Auditorium, Smackover, Arkansas with Rev. Lamont Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Hicks Cemetery, Smackover, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 21 from 8:00 to 9:00a.m. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Luther Harris, Sr., please visit our flower store.
