"Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteouness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:8 Girdie F. Ramey Elerson was born to Easter Robinson Ramey and Ike Ramey on May 28, 1909 in Union County, Arkansas. She united with Morning Star Baptist Church,No. 1 at an early age. Later she united with New Providence Baptist Church Family where she served in Circle Ruth and a member of the Deaconess Board and the gospel Chorus. She was married to the late Daniel W. Elerson on September 4, 1926 and to this blessed union the Lord saw fit to bestow eleven children. Although she worked diligently with the Cooperative Extension Home Demonstration "4-H Club" for a number of years and as a election poll worker, she labored in her home(Titus 2:5) tirelessly. She "guided" her house(I Timothy 4:15) a profession she approached with firmness, calm wisdom and quiet speech. She knew her life was more than mopping floors, cooking meals and making beds. She also had to train her children, teach the younger women(Titus 2:4) and labor in the gospel(Phillipians 4:3) Nevertheless she tended these "motherly and wifely" jobs with full care and a willing spirit. Mother Elerson loved her children, all eleven of them. To her, there was no greater and fulfilling cooupaiton than raising up her children in the admonition of the Lord. She also exemplified the word hospitiality(Romans 12:13). Everyone who crossed her threshold felt welcome in her home. Mother Elerson's hobbies were fishing, sewing and working in her yard and garden. She loved flowers and worked diligently in growing her flowers and vegetables which she generously shared with her neighbors. Mother Elerson is predeceased by her husband of sixty-seven years, both parents and three children. Her loving memories will be forever cherished by three sons, George Franklin(Bettie) Elerson of El Dorado, Arkansas, Charles Elerson of Anchorage, Alaska and James Roy (Hattie) Elerson of Milwaukee, Wisconsisn; five daughters Daisy Lewis and Easter Lowery both of El Dorado, Arkansas, Maxine Taylor of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Betty Mallett and Carolyn Huey both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, forty-three grandchildren, one hundred and four great-grand children, one hundred and five great-great grandchildren and seven great-great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends who will miss her radiant smile.
